PREPARING FOR RETIREMENT

There are two very important days in the life of a civil worker. The day s/he gets the job and the day s/he retires (i.e if s/he don't get sacked). And because of this, most organizations advice that as soon as you begin work, you start to plan for your retirement. Such plans include having a steady savings and picking a good pension scheme.

Dearly beloved, just like that civil worker, we all have two important days. The day we were born and the day we would die. And because this is inevitable it is imperative that we begin early to prepare for the day we would die.

Look at how our text puts it "Everyone must die once. After a person dies, he is judged."(ICB).
This scripture shows us that, like most of those organizations that are concerned about the well-being of their workers, God is so much more concerned about us and wouldn't want retirement to meet us unawares.

Imagine as a civil servant, you put in 45 years of your life only to retire with nothing because you never heard anything about savings nor pension schemes. It would not only be a shameful thing but a painful one. You would live the rest of your retirement life in regrets especially when you see your other colleagues enjoying the benefits of proper savings and pension schemes.
In the same way, it would be a shame and a painful thing to invest 45 or even 100 years of your life living here on earth without paying attention to eternal savings or heaven's pension schemes.

There are many benefits to proper savings and pension schemes. Example, As you're retiring, the company pays you a huge sum of money more than your salary (that is the money the company has been saving for you). Then, the pension scheme pays that person a certain amount monthly until s/he dies. But to get all this, there are certain responsibilities one must fulfill to both the company and the pension scheme company.

The same is applicable with the Kingdom of God. There are so many gifts to enjoy in God.
"Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life , eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master." Romans 6:‬23 MSG
Do you notice with me that eternal life promised there isn't the pay for living and abiding with the terms and conditions of heaven. It is just a GIFT!
If the gift is eternal life, what then is the pay???

Are you anxious to know what the pay is like?
Then invest properly. Open a savings account by simply signing up with JESUS.
Make him your Lord and Friend.
